Good morning!
can you upgrade from windows 7 home premium to windows 7 professional using windows 7 profession full version?

I am wondering if when I drop the cd in of Windows 7 Professional, if it will offer me the option to upgrade from Home Prem 7 or just offer/start a full install and overwrite everything I've installed?

As long as you are replacing a 32 bit OS with a 32 bit OS and a 64 bit OS with a 64 bit OS and do not mind the expense of a full verson versus a upgrade version, which is less expensive.

Okay....
First off, yes, 64 to 64.
So it will offer me an option to upgrade as opposed to overwriting and blowing away all apps and data I've loaded?
I am in process of full bkup as a precaution.

You will need a new key for Pro version.

Do you have one?

By the way, an easier way to upgrade would be to use "Windows Anytime Upgrade"

ALl you do is open it, enter the new key and presto.

Yes, I have the license key for the full 32/64 Pro version(s).
I may go the route you suggested.... Windows Anytime Upgrade, then see if the full version license key will work.
the price of Pro (download) was inexpensive... > $100.00.
Cheap enough where I have a full blown version as ooposed to Home Prem that came with the HP.
Jeesh... I hate when laptops die and I have to upgrade!

Thanks all!
