Should i uninstall the old graphics drivers on my ati video card or should i install the new updated drivers over the top!!!Which is the correct way?
thanks for your time

Install over the top, unless you have problems don't uninstall the old ones.

Out of habit I uninstall first then install but you don't need to.

Under no circumstances, bar swiching from ATI to nvidia or vice versa or if you are having serious problems with your computer do you need to do as maziar directed, that is not the normal way to do it.

Again, ATI has said for some time just to install straight over the top.

Supposedly you are supposed to uninstall the old drivers and then install the new drivers. I haven't done it that way in years though. I just download and install the new ones over the top like you said.

You should uninstall the current drivers. Installing over top might work but can corrupt the driver files.

Right,i agree with the posters above.
The best way to install a new driver is a clean install, here is how:
1_Download and install "Driver sweeper" from Guru3d.com and install
2_Go to add/remove programs and uninstall the driver and reboot
3_Boot to safe mode and open driver sweeper, then click on ATI and then click on clean
4_Reboot and boot normally to windows and install the new drivers after that u need a restart, and its finished :)

Yes clean uninstall is necessary when u are switching from Nvidia to ATI or
vice versa, but in some topics i read that some users have run into some problems when uninstalling an old ATI(as an example) driver and installing a new ATI driver and a clean install helped them
