in reference to the difference between amd and intel pipelines i read amd is deep and short while intel is long what does that mean ?

The Pentium 4 had a long pipeline, which allowed high clocks but was less efficient at getting work done. That isn't as true anymore though - the modern CPUs have a shorter pipeline.
