hi guys, im trying to move files from my old ide hdd via a usb hub to my new pc. the problem is i have 2000 pics of my kids and i can only gain ownership of them 1 at a time. is there an easy way to gain ownership of all at once so i can save myself months of right clicking and boredom??? all help would be much appreciated. thanks cris

Take ownership of the topmost folder that contains all the files you want, and be sure to check the "Replace Owner on subcontainers and objects" option when you do it.

thanks alot that worked but i still have to change permissions to view individual files1 at a time is there a quick fix for that?? thankyou again

It's basically the same thing - change the permissions on the topmost folder, making sure that the "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" option is checked when you do it.
