I just finished putting together this build;
17 920
asus rampage gene
3x2 patriot ram
750 psu
radeon 4850
I origionaly had no power at all then i wentg through the no post thread, after going over the conections i left the keyboard unplugged and went to boot again.
I got the message choose boot location press any key.
plugged in my wireless key board, had no luck so i rebooted, and now there are no beeps and no display.
the post reader that came with the asus stays stuck on "det dram"
any advice where i am stuck is it hdd issue or ram issue what do you guys think?
Well what are you trying to boot to? Cd? HDD? Is there an operating system on the hdd? You cant boot to a blank drive, you have to boot to the cd the operating system is on.
Try the 3 channels that are farthest from the cpu to install your dimms. I've seen this cause system to not boot on X58.

okay, i am now able to get into bios but its still not seeing my hard drive or dvd. I am think i need to be in sata ports one and two not the black one but i tried that. Do I ineed to have them hooked up by the sata power on my psu or is using the adapter ok? Ive tried both an am thinking that it is a bad board. Could you hook up the dvd strait to the psu and expect it to open? or does it need to be connected to the MB to have power.
The manual tells you where they need to be hooked up. Have you even read it?
Are you trying to boot to a hdd with a OS or are you trying to boot your OS on cd?? Your not giving us enough information.
You must have a sata cable from the mobo and a power cable from the psu to both the dvd and the hd. Put your OS cd in the drive, go into bios and set boot order. Set it to boot to CD/DVD first. Then hit save and exit. Then it will asking you to hit any key to boot from cd.
