Intel Raid turns non-raid drives into IDE

Hi everyone,

I searched for this particular problem, but didn't seem to come up with anything. Please forgive me if posted elsewhere. I am trying to set up a RAID 0 array with 2 600gb raptor drives on my intel controller. When I did so it converted all of my other drives (1 TB WD, 3 SSD) to IDE. I wanted to know if it was possible to have all drives in AHCI and also have a RAID 0 array on my intel controller. I now I could use the Marvell controller, but I'd like to leave my Sata 3 ports for my 2 Sata 3 SSD's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly new to this. Thank you in advance.

Haven't used that motherboard. If it were me, the first thing that I would do is check in the BIOS and see if, once you have set the chipset controller mode to RAID, it is possible to change the mode of non-raided disks on a per-port basis. Some boards do this, some do not. So fiddle with the BIOS.
