The 5870 announcement showed 6 monitors driven by a single 5870 gpu. How does one physically attach more than two monitors to such a card?

there will be 2 versions of the 5870 peoples

the 5870 eyefinity which comes with 6 mini display ports

and then a normal 1 for the people who dont 1t to pay the huge premium im sure theyll attach to the price for giving the ability to span a desktop over six monitors

which comes with display port, hdmi, and dual dvi

Looking at photos, I don't see 6 of anything. Perhaps there is a 6 port dongle to be attached?

I read elsewhere that there will be another version of the 5870 with 6 ports but the normal one will have 3.

Mousemonkey had a picture of 4 monitors close together with very thin bezels. It actually made me wish I was rich enough to get a few.

Sorry, didn't mean to insult you with using a small number like four.... Didn't mean to misquote...

I was being lazy and didn't want to go through the forum looking for the link, but I do know that you showed me my future thin bezel monitors.

Sorry mate that came across wrong, I wasn't insulted I just wondered whether the piccy had been cropped by your browser so you could only see four of the screens.

You don't want video cubes, £10,000 a pop and the picture quality is crap.

I don't own or buy any of the kit so I can't give you an exact cost but for those nine screens the frame they are mounted on and the video scaler used there won't be much change out of £23,000.

Just wondering if with the 6 mini port on the 5870 eyefinity, i can use standard LCD monitors with DVI connectors.

It's not clear that i can do that.

only if there is a converter
