Hello to all, I am hoping someone here might know what my problem is and what the solution is.

I have an HP m9450f which comes with an ASUS IPIBL-LB motherboard and I have been having issues lately with the CPU and Case fans (controlled of motherboard with multi-wire fans) running at full speed on cold start up and during idle period. I have SpeedFan 4.40 running (To Monitor Only) the fan speeds and I can see them speeding up to 4700 and 2600 RPM, here is a video I made of what the fans are doing, during IDLE

Also I have re-installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit (Vista 64Bit was pre-installed on system) and it was doing it on Vista as well. I have upgraded the PSU to and OCZ ModXStream Pro 700, so I know my PSU was not the cause, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version 5.32 SP40908.exe according to HP.

I have found another system that runs the same motherboard and has a bios update to fix the issue I am asking about, but everyone says DO NOT USE IT.

I think it is an error on HP's part and not posting it on my model systems updated bios list b/c the requirements state I have to have the IPIBL-LB motherboard, that system had the 5.32 update like mine SP40908.exe so what does everyone else think???

I know this is an old post, but I thought I would see if I can shed any light here. I just upgraded my bios on this motherboard to 5.43 and the release notes did mention "improves system thermal performance and updates fan curve for processor support" That may apply to your problem.

The upgrade page is here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-86212-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=2100&product=3686671&sw_lang=

# Improves system thermal performance.
# Updates fan curve for processor support.
# Resolves issue with the system appearing to hang during restart if an HP Personal Media Drive is connected.
# Resolves issue with the system hanging when 7GB of RAM is installed.
# Updates Hardware Diagnostic Tools to v4880.05.

Now, if someone could tell me why my Gigabyte 9600GT video card won't power up with this motherboard, we'd be in business.

Ya I tried that and still did not fix it, so I did one better, I bought a Cooler Master HAF 922 Case, Asus P5Q Pro, OCZ ModXStream 700W PSU, and a GTX 280, transfered my 8GB ram and CPU over along with DVD drive and I overclocked the CPU to 3ghz from 2.5 with out a problem. HP sucks ass, I will never buy a pre-built system ever again, Only CUSTOM from here on out.
