I have the netbook emachines em350, which does not have a optical drive and i need to get a DVD drive running. I cant buy a new portable DVD Drive but have found a working old DVD/CD writable drive which is manufactured by TEAC and is the DW-28e. It has the IDE/ATAPI Interface. How can i get it to work on the netbook?

For more details on the DVD drive this link can be used http://www.teac.co.jp/dspd/product/optical/dw-28e.html.

Thanks in advance :)

All i got from following the link was some moonspeak and a link to their home page. As for the drive itself, i'm going to assume it's a standard IDE optical 5.5" drive, in which case you'd be far better off getting something like this http://www.amazon.com/Asus-External-Optical-SDRW-08D2S-U-Black/dp/B003YT578O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308083033&sr=8-1

If money is the issue you'd have to buy an adapter for the IDE to USB connection and something to power it as well, which isn't too far off from the 40 bucks that this burner costs, as well as the burner simply looks a lot nicer as well as being slim profile to fit in a backpack with your netbook.

If you're really REALLY set on using that old drive I can't stop you, You could use something like the link below but I wouldn't reccommend it.

if you're going to do that make sure it's jumpered properly too.
