High def and PSU usage

the video card i got is ati radeon hd 4670 and my psu is 300 watt i was thinking about buying a hdmi to dvi-d cable and was wondering if my monitor displaying high def would cause more psu usage

The monitor does not draw power from the power supply. The monitor draws power from the wall outlet (mains).

I ran into trouble with a ati 3650 and a 103w prescott with an earthwatts 380w...
They stay calm until you really do something, and there is no stopping a failure. vrms melt at 175c....

the hd is no problem, unless the bizarre excuse for encoding like you tube and vimeo etc etc. big power needed strangely. a disc is nothing, local play no problems...
I would get bigger power apfc asap.

iv been looking at getting one for a while but im afraid im gonna screw up my computer by buying a wrong one and then theres actually putting it in which i have horrible luck with that type of stuff

Please list your computer components so we can make valid recommendations.

I checked several references. A computer system with a single ATI Radeon HD 4670 video card does not require very much power.

A 4670 only needs about 70 watts. You should be fine.
