Approximate Purchase Date: Around November or December of this year

Budget Range: About USD$500-$600

System Usage: Gaming, internet surfing, watching movies

Parts Not Required: OS, speakers, monitor, dvd drive/burner

Preferred Website for parts : Just looking for good prices and customer service.

Overclocking: Maybe at a later date SLI or Crossfire: Maybe at a later date

Monitor Resolution: Not sure, plan on using a 32" 1080i tv via HDMI

Additional Comments: I've been looking at building a budget gaming PC for sometime now, compiling a shopping cart at newegg, but I don't plan on getting parts until the end of the year, birthday+christmas money, so the prices are bound to change by then. I am pretty set on a Phenom II x4 955 processor and a Xfx 1gb gddr5 4870 graphics card because of the lifetime waranty. I definitely want an HDMI output on the motherboard because my tv doesn't have a DVI input just an HDMI. I also want an optic cable on the motherboard because my surround sound system is bby optic cable only. I have a case that works pretty well, but it is not the most efficient design as its a 2002 vpr matrix 253r, so a new case may be a possiblity if its a good price.
This is what I have so far any revisions/suggestions would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks!

So just a question. Why would you want an on-board HDMI (with MB) and also get the gpu? Do you plan on having multiple monitors? Also, you should come back a few weeks before you buy and then repost, as everything will change, as the i5 will be out, and windows 7 would be the way to go at that point.

I guess I wouldn't need HDMI on the motherboard, but I would still want the optic cable and from what I have seen motherboards generally have both HDMI and optic cable on them not just optic cable. I was planning on posting later before I buy I was just trying to figure out if I was on track for a decent gaming machine in my budget.

Here i just put together somethin in like 5 minutes ... But there really isn't any point if ur buyin in november/december . I think by then prices will be a bit dif, but anyways, here you go:

Memory: 4GB G. Skill 800 MHz $52
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231122

Proc: AMD Phenom 9750 $120
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103250

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817139005

GPU: XFX 4850 512mb $110
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814150337

CPU Cooler: Somethin that's around $35 . I'm not sure what's a good AM2+ cooler ... But i guess the Scythe Mugen-2 is good. Thats $36

Total should be around $600

I put this together really quick... so i mighta forgot somethin and the parts might not be the best choices .
Another thing to keep in mind. If you are using a 32 inch tv @ 1080i ... don't expect great frame rates because your budget limits you to a 4850... 4870 at best. Unless prices change, which they prob. will

What graphics card would I need to produce decent frame rates on a tv like and what resolution? Thanks for list, like I said I'm just trying to get an idea of the perfomance level I can get for the money.

for 1080i ... i would think a 4870 at least ... i'm not too sure because i don't game at that resolution

I know this was mentioned above, but it's way to early to start trying to put together components since there will be a lot of new hardware released before November/December. I would come back a couple weeks before your intended build and ask for advice then. What we recommend today will surely change by November/December. The PC hardware scene changes way to fast to try to plan a build months in advance.

The 4890 will do better, you can use a DVI-HDMI adapter, you suffer no signal loss. With the i5 and the 5xxx series of graphics cards coming out its impossible to know what prices will be like in december.

Right now you can fit a 785G board, AMD 955, 4850, and the other basic components but with the 5xxx series coming out, the graphics card prices will likely drop a bit letting you get a 4890 into that budget as well. if you post once you are within 2 or 3 weeks of your expected purchase date we will help set you up with a good build based around the currently available tech.
