The recent Windoze OSes don't need drivers for HDDs. Let me try to narrow things down:
Do you have a running OS to which you just added a new hard drive? If so, you have to partition and format the drive. There's a sticky article at the head of the storage forum.
Are you installing the OS to this drive and the installation procedure is failing to see it? In that case, which OS version, and look in your BIOS and tell us if the disk controller is set to IDE, RAID, or AHCI mode.
What kind of drive? Of motherboard?
