Just about to build a new pc...here's what I'm looking at:

Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core Processor

Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Motherboard

Patriot Extreme Viper PVT36G1600LLK 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1600

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA2 Hard Drive

Coolermaster V8 CPU Heatsink Cooler

Samsung SH-S223B/BEBE 22X DVD+-RW SATA DVD Writer

Radeon HD 4890 Video Card

Corsair TX750W 750W Power Supply

Windows 7 of course :)

Questions:
Over all are there any changes that I would be a fool not to make?
What brand of video card should I pick?
Is the the PSU sufficient? Would it be enough for a 4870 x2?
Can anyone suggest a good case below $100...I'm not too picky on cosmetics though I would love to have a side window.

Thanks in advance! Just found this forum..looking forward to visiting often.

I would suggest getting the XFX 4890, there is one on newegg with a slight OC for the same price as the one without.

For 95 after promo code and with free shipping i would suggest the antec 900

The PSU is plenty for 2 4890s which is your logical upgrade path, the build looks pretty good, nice job!

EDIT: :P Dint refresh before posting... +1 for hunter315...
Hi...

Those are pretty good choice of components...

As for the case, here are few options
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 96&bop=And
Any of those cases would be very good...

And about the PSU - It has enough power even for 2x HD 4890s...

Video cards - XFX HD 4890 -> Obviously for warranty...

RAM - Where are you buying those from ??
You can good RAM sets from amazon.com for cheaper rates

CPU Cooling - Change the cooler to the Xig Dark Knight...It is cheaper and performs as good or better than the V8...

thanks for the responses

Like the cases...going to have a good look/read some reviews and such. And I'll take your (gkay09) advice on the Xig.

The RAM I found was from NCIX.com but I'm very open to suggestions. I live you Canada so shipping is a bit of an issue..Everything listed above including the new cooler I can get up here from an NCIX outlet.

As for the RAM, here are other very good options...

http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] =G%2ESkill
http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] re=MUSHKIN

And as for the case, if you are very much limited to >CAD100, then get this case -
CM 690 for now...It doesnt have a side panel window but is a very high quality case...
http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] OLERMASTER
And when you have some cash, get this side panel window...

I think I'm going to go with the G.SKILL http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] re=G.Skill

and im not firm on $100 for the case so think i'll go for the Coolermaster Storm Scout http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=38039

Here's my updated shopping cart:

Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core Processor

Gigabyte EX58-UD3R

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB

Samsung SH-S223B/BEBE 22X DVD+-RW SATA DVD Writer

XFX Radeon HD 4890 1GB

Corsair TX750W 750W

Xigmatek Dark Knight 9

Coolermaster Storm Scout

Just a heads up on the CM Storm Scout...
Yes it is very good case, but there are some known issues...
Check this article...

So you might want to double check that you dont get those...

Thanks the info..I will likely be looking at some combo deals.

Another quick question just because I'm paranoid.

I think I'm going to end up going with the Antec Nine Hundred Case...does anyone have any experience with the Xigmatek Dark Knight 9 and the Antec Nine Hundred? Don't want to order up the parts and then find that the cooler wont fit. (happened to a buddy of mine last year)

Thanks again!

Reply to L3monade

The Antec 900 and Xigmatek Dark Knight is a very common combination. There are no fitment problems with that combination.
