After reading the article on the Resident Evil 5 benchmark, I decided to download it and try it out on my rig. I ran the variable (gameplay) benchmark three times with the DX9, 1920x1200, 4AA, everything else maxed settings, and came up with some interesting results.

The first two areas resulted in an average of about 120 fps each, but areas 3 & 4 resulted in an average of about 30 fps each. Again, I ran it three times. I guess it may be some weird bug, but does anyone have any ideas or similar results?

PII 940 @ 3.8
Two 4870s, stock speed
9.8 drivers
Vista 32

I've stumbled upon a thread where people with the 48xx cards were having the same results. It's the benchmark not your rig, don't worry :p .

Hmm, thanks for the info. Hopefully the actual release won't be that drastic.

Should refer to it as Ph2 instead. Makes much more sense to some not so well educated individuals, let alone us fossils :D

My apologies.. thought the 940 part would have been enough.

If I could have gotten a Pentium 2 up to 3.8 ghz back in the day, I think Intel would have been beating down my dorm room door!

Nah, I was only kidding, take it easy mate.

No worries, figured you were. I was just caught up in the fantasy of 18 year old me with a futuristic super-computer in my dorm room.

if you didnt say "PII 940" i would have thought it would be Pentium D 940 because we r old school like that. ph2 sounds reasonable or just phenom.

Nice to know that. Too bad I don't have my PC to test out the demo. Cheers :D

Good call on the 9.9 drivers - 116.6 average fps now.
