$1500 Gaming Computer New, help.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: ASAP- 1 Month

BUDGET RANGE: 1000-2000

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: gaming, msn, internet, music

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Moniter, I'll probably end up buying on locally.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: My first time making, so newegg?

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel I-7, maybe 2 video cards, not sure?

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: Not sure yet

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Basically I'm looking for a gaming desktop in range. A computer that can run Final Fantasy XIV smooth enough. Also, to be a bit quiet, and have a decent cooling system. I don't expect to get the best of the best with my price range, but possibly something good enough.

  1. If you go with your max budget, you'll be able to get a very high end system. Definitely go with a i7 920, x58 motherboard, and 6GB of low latency RAM. Video cards are a bit up in the air right now since the new Radeon 5870 cards are coming very soon. Otherwise you might be able to budget in a pair of GTX 275s or HD 4890s. Go with a 750 watt Corsair PSU. As for case, buy one that suits your taste and is easy to work with. Good suggestions are an Antec 900 or 1200, or Coolermaster HAF 932.

wathman does bring up a good point on the new DX11 cards from ATI, as well.
  3. ^+1. I too recommend waiting for the ATI 5xxx release.
  4. I would go for tecmo's higher end build but only get 1 GTX275 for now. It will drop the build cost down below 1300 and still give you plenty of graphics power while saving you enough to upgrade to one of the new GPUs when they come out.

Unfortunately tecmo it seems that gskill kit is out of stock now too, all of the good DDR3 kits seem to be drying up.
  5. Thank you guys for all of your support. Either low end or high end eh.
