I just installed my second 4850 and my interconnect cables will not be here until Wednesday. Should I be able to run both cards in software mode or not? I'm not so much concerned from a performance aspect since I will be getting the cable in two days, but I want to know if I have a problem that I should look into correcting before the interconnect cable arrives. I'd rather spend Wednesday enjoying the computer rather than working on it.

Even if it does work, you'll likely see a very large performance drop with CF enabled...

You'd be better off just leaving the two cards in, with CF off, and drop in the connector when it arrives then enable in CCC.

Agreed, I just want to know if I "should" be able to enable crossfire right now without the interconnect. It's not necessarily that I think I would get much benefit, just to rule out any potential issues before Wednesday.
