Access security for wireless router

Greetings,

I am trying to help a friend restrict access to his wireless signal from his router by setting up a protocol that requires a password for access. I have done this many times for others.

I have tried WEP and WPA .....

His make and model:
Airlink 101
"N"

Any suggestions ?

Presumably everything works without wireless security.

So sounds like a case of which wireless security type both router and wireless adapter will support.

If both are N wireless they may support WPA2 -- but WPA-PSK TKIP is the most widely supported type.

If you must use WEP do not apply the passphrase to the wireless adapter, copy and paste the HEX code.
