I bought a used, Medion-built PC several months ago, and haven't had any problems but one: it won't make a sound! I have tried everything I can think of to get it to do so (aside from buying a sound card), including OS (windows xp) settings and BIOS settings. The motherboard has onboard audio, and the person I bought it from said he had installed a dedicated card as well, which he removed before selling the computer to me, so perhaps that is affecting it (though, again, I have tried messing with the BIOS settings). So, I basically need to get the onboard audio working, or determine that it's totally screwed and I need to buy a sound card. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and please let me know what other info would be helpful.
Also if the seller removed the sound card and didnt re-install windows then go into the control panel and check which audio hardware is set as the default. It could be that the OS is still trying to output audio via the removed sound card.
