Is there a differance between triple channel and Hexa channel memory.
I am using an Asus P6T7 Ws supercomputer ultimate gamer MB and Intel Core i7-975 3.33 Ghz quad-core processor.
I would like to use two 6GB sets (12 Gb total) of Corsair Dominator-Gt Ram 240 pin ddr3 2000 (pc1600). will this work.
I know they sell three sticks of 4Gb ram, which is the better route?.

three 4gb sticks would be the better route but it is most likely going to be cost prohibitive for a minimal benefit

regardless it will be a triple channel, if you go the route you said it would still be triple channel you would just have two sticks on each channel

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

I think that with 6GB (3x2GB) in tri-channel is enough for your system. At least that you want use many applications at the same time like Adobe CS3, Adobe premier and others like this, even, with 8GB is enough for run all those applications.

12GB or more only are used by server rigs, that need a big size of memory, but IMO i don't think that you need 12GB for a gaming rig.
