Hello,
I accidentally plugged the power cord from my laptop into my external hard drive. Now it won't turn on. Is there any way to save it?

The usual result of such an overvoltage is a shorted 12V TVS diode. If so, then there is usually an easy, no-cost DIY fix.

Remove the drive from its enclosure and upload a photo of the component side of the hard drive's PCB. One of will identify the component for you.
