Iomega hard drive wont recognize new computer

I recently got a new iomega hard drive 1TB and it works great on my mac and I use timemachine to regularly backup my computer. But I tried to put it into my friends PC to download some files and it isnt recognized. Whats going on? Is it a setting under time machine?

Is your friend using Mac also? If he is using win then the drive may not be compatible
