I have a HP Pavilion a6547c pc computer. My graphic card that came with this computer is a NVIDIA Geforce 6150SE. I want to upgrade this graphic card to a 8800gt or a 9600gt. Can I do this for this computer? Reason is I want to start playing Cryptic Champions Online. Here are the minimum and recomended requirements for this game:

DirectX:Version 9.0c or Higher
HDD:5GB Free Disk Space
Network:Broadband Required
Disc:6X DVD-ROM

Recommended System Configuration

OS:Windows XP SP2/ Windows Vista/Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit)
CPU:Intel E8400 Core2Duo or Better
Memory:2GB RAM or Better
Video:NVIDIA GeForce 8800 or Better / ATI Radeon HD 3850 or Better
Sound:DirectX Compatible Soundcard
DirectX:Version 9.0c or Higher

That is odd, the minimum requirements list an Intel GMA while the recommended requirements are very high, two totally different performance brackets. Without actually knowing how the game will play, I see one problem.

1. Your stock power supply is not powerful enough for a dedicated card, you need a 400w+ power supply made by Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, Antec (not the Basiq series), or Seasonic.

You have plenty of RAM (internet says it has 4GB) and your CPU is decent, though not near the recommended (AMD 5000+). If you get a good power supply and atleast an 8800 GT/9800 GT (same thing) or an ATI 4830/4770 you should do fine.

or if you upgrade to something like a hd 4670 you won't have to worry about the extra power

Not necessarily, HP uses some of the worst power supplies on the market. Even an extra PCI card is too much of a strain for me to feel comfortable.
