I have a HP m7680y media center pc and my video card went out. I was wondering if I can get a PCI express 2.0 card or if i have to stick to an older version. The MB is an ASUS P5BW-LA. Any recomendations on a video card would be appreciated. I run a 42" Samsung LCD as my monitor.

Whats the resolution on the monitor and what do you use it for? PCI-E 1.0 simply runs at half the speed of PCI-E 2.0 which isnt a big issue for most cards especially when not in an SLI or crossfire config. If you arent going to be gaming a 4650 should be plenty and wont require an extra power connector from the PSU.

1920x1080 res and i use it mainly for autoCAD and photoshop and google sketchup. Just the occasional game gets played on this rig. Usually half life or fear.
