Compatible motherboard E5502

Hello,

I am looking for a motherboard that will run a Xeon E5502.

There seem to be a few out there that have this CPU on the compatability list, ASUS P6t7 WS etc..., ASROCK X58 EXTREME

but the E5502 runs DDR3-800 memory and these boards don't state that memory speed, only faster ones.

So how is it compatable ?

Can I run a faster memory and will the CPU cope ?

HP use PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066 in servers with that CPU). It might run at 800MHz, but faster RAM can be used. Why an E5502 on the suggested motherboards? Because it's an inexpensive dual-core CPU?

I got this cpu really cheap, and it is compatible with newer i7 cpus, I will upgrade to a faster i7 quad core later when needed, or i9 6 core if supported on the board I get. I dont want to pay cutting edge prices for components that lose value so quickly like CPU, I will put the cash towards some fast drives and graphics cards.

How fast do you think I can go with the memory ? or just play it safe and upgrade later to match the CPU.

I'd suggest good DDR3-1333 or 1600 I don't think that you'll be limited to 800MHz. For example, the i7-920 memory type is DDR3-800/1066, but we all know that you could use DDR3-1600 or even faster.
