ASUS vs. EVGA

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs ASUS vs. EVGA

Word :    Username :

Hi I am in the market for a motherboard. I just bought an Intel i7 950 processor but now I don't know what motherboard to go with. HELP.

I want to know if the EVGA E760 CLASSIFIED is worth the money over the ASUS P6T models like the Deluxe or revolution.

I would love to hear some feedback if you own any of them. Thank you.

It depends.

For most users, no. It isn't worth it. For extreme* overclocking, the Classified is better.

*If you're wondering what counts as extreme, it's pretty simple. If it's aircooled, it isn't extreme. If it's watercooled by anything but a custom loop, it isn't extreme.

The eVGA is only worth the money if you plan to overclock that CPU and cool it with either Watercooling, TEC cooling or Phase Change.

If you're air cooling the sucker (even overclocked) the P6T is plenty enough.

Also think warranty. I have stuck to EVGA because they have always honored their warranty and even when the problem was not always "directly" caused by them but they had promoted a feature that did not work as expected, they will usually make concessions for you. I don't know of to many manufactures that do that. Asus may but I have not experience with their boards or cards.

Corsair 850HX as you're limited to 2 cards with the P6TD Deluxe (nice board btw).

But that's just my preference - a 850W from any of the major brands will do you fine.
