Hello,

I have a PCIe 1.0 motherboard (a Gigabyte G31M-ES2L) and I want to buy a new graphics card, for when COD: MW2 arrives. I would like to know if a GTX 260 896mb card (which is PCIe 2.0) would work on my motherboard (which is PCIe 1.0), and if it does, how much loss would I get? Like, would I be able to play MW2 at a good frame rate with everything up high?

Thanks guys! :D

Yes you can... ;)
And oh boy that is one beefy PSU for your PC... :P

Yes it will work on that mobo and you wont notice much difference using that card in the PCIe 1.0 slot...
And at what resolution do you want to play ? and the CPU that you have...
These are the factors that would decide whether you can play those games @ full settings...

Thanks for the reply!
I have an Inter Core 2 Duo 3.00Hz, 2GB RAM, and usually I would play at a low resolution such as 1024 x 768. The maximum resolution I can do in COD4 is 1280 x 1024.

Would I be able to play well at those resolutions, or just the low ones?

LOL

So yes, I can play everything on high? (I don't mind no AA ;D)

But because I have a PCIe 1.0 mobo, how many frames would I expect to loose?

^ You can fully max out even at 1280 x 1024...But forgot to mention about the PSU...Make sure you have a high quality 450W PSU or a good quality 500W PSU to run that card...Else you would have problems like random shutdown, crashes...

Oh yes, I have a 750W Corsair 2 x 6-pin PSU.

So, to conclude, I could play COD: MW2 at maximum settings at a frame rate higher than 60?

Thanks again.

Yeah, you'll be fine. You'll loose like 1 or 2 fps, if that, for going with PCI-E 1.0 as opposed to PCI-E 2.0, but it's not really a big deal.
