How do I use unallocated disk space.

After getting Windows 7 installed, I only have the 20GB system drive that i split from my other 460GB hard drive. I didn't know to make a whole new partition for the data, thinking it would use the remainder. I don't know how to create D drive and assign the rest of the 400GB. Can someone please help me out?

right click my computer, manage, go to disk management, right click the unallocated space and format it.
