I intend to use my laptop on a 2K cinema projector and would like to know if there is a way for me to do this.

I am willing to do what it takes. Either buy an external adapter, buy a new laptop or use a desktop PC if there are no other solutions.

The projector has DVI input.

Get a vga to dvi cable and plug it in, not sure if it will work but its worth a shot.
