I just had a system built with an Athlon X4 620 on stock HSF, Gigabyte MA770-UD3P and an Antec Nine Hundred case. At idle, I'm getting:

System: 27C
CPU: 32C
Core: 24C

At load:

System: 26C
CPU: 57C
Core: 50C

Does this seem right? I reapplied a container of a generic thermal compound I had bought because I saw it going up to 58-59C. I ran Prime95 after reinstalling the CPU last night and when I checked the system this morning, it had shut down prematurely. I'm going to try Prime95 once more today while I'm out just to rule out if Windows had done something during the night. If I start trying to OC it, which temperature should I stay below?

I'll likely buy some AS5 and an Arctic Cooler 64 Pro within the next week.

I downloaded CoreTemp, and my CPU temps at 3 Ghz in Prime95 were 26C Idle, 52C load. Why are they so different from SpeedFan and the BIOS? Should I trust only one of them?

There is too much of a gap between idle and LOAD. I suspect its your thermal compound causing the issue. For example my CPU idles at 35c and LOAD temps never exceed 47c .... I use speedfan and core-temp and both show the same temps....

Oh ok. I'll have it ordered by tomorrow or Monday. I'm curious though, the spire thermax has a 3 pin cpu fan connector. The MA770-UD3P has a 4 pin connector. How will that work?
