I have a generic no-name notebook pc that was surplused at work. It works
great but the battery barely holds a charge. It has a un-branded SL-36
battery which I found is the same as Duracell DR36/S. The replacement NiMH
is 4000mAH but I found a Duracell DR202 Li-ion battery 5400mAH for not much
more that seems to be compatible. The main difference is the Li-ion is only
11.1v. Is that going to create a problem replacing my 12v battery? Most
PCs run on 12v/5v, so I didn't know if the 11.1v battery would cause a
problem. I would like to know before I shell out $$ on this older notebook.
I would like the larger capacity and less memory effect than the NiMH.
Don't think it will help but here are the specs I can find:
P233/128megs Ram/3.2gig hard drive/CD Rom/Intel TX chipset/S3 MX video

you need to be aware or the charging requirements of Li-ion batteries over
NiMH. There are older posts regarding this matter and also do a google
search. Your questions sometimes are answered with more questions.

You will have no problem using an 11.1 V. in place of a 12.0. I had a Compaq
Presario which needed a new battery. The original NiMH battery delivered 9.6
vs. and the replacement Li-ion 14.4. I bought the Li-ion and have used it
with no problems. If you want to see my original post and some very
interesting follow-up posts on battery technology search back in this
newsgroup to February 15, 2004. Title of the thread is "Li-ion vs. NiMH
Batteries."
