I am looking at the following board:

Asus P7P55D $170 before combo rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

How does the following affect crossfire performance:

2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (single at x16 or dual at x8/x8 mode)
1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (at x4 mode, 2.5GT/s)

Ive read a few discussions that claim that x8/x8 with a lowish end card (5770) will not give you a good increase in performance.

Im interested in crossfiring two 5770's down the road but not sure about this mobo.....

Thanks,

ohhh i see....disregard.

I found the answer in the Graphics Card sli/crossfire FAQ.

Looks like x 8 should perform well. Glad i ditched the X4mobo

i'd suggest u get the 5850 instead of 5770 crossfire... cheaper and performs faster

how is the 5850 cheaper? Newegg has it at $300.....while the 5770 is like $164?

I would love to have purchased a more powerful card, but i have a limited budget and i cannot drop that kind of money soley on a gpu.

thanks for the tip though!

5770 crossfire = 2 X 5770 = $164 X 2 = $300+ = more costlier than a 5850...
