Hey Guys,

New to the forum. Wanted to know anyones advice on a motherboard for an e8400 core 2 duo processor. I got the processor brand new for very cheap from a friend so I will be using it in the meantime for a new rig I am building. I eventually plan on moving to a core 2 quad. Also still debating on the RAM. Should I just use ddr2 for the time being or just go right into ddr3. I have heard that the e8400 wont maximize the ddr3 so I should just stick with high end ddr2. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I like the Gigabyte motherboards. Depending on your desired features, either the GA-EP45-UD3P or GA-EP45-UD3L will work nicely. They are also easy to overclock.

I do not think that Core2 CPU's can use the full potential of DDR3 RAM. I'd recommend good DDR2-800 RAM. Most DDR2-1066 RAM is just DDR2-800 RAM that has been tested to run at -1066 speeds by increasing the voltage and relaxing the memory timing.
