Hi guys,

My previous computer just completely died so I'm in the market for a new computer to build.

Two questions before I decide on my parts, though:

1) Are there any major product cycles just on the horizon? I know the i5 is coming in Sept, but I'm planning on a mid-range build (~$1000) with the Phenom X4, so I'm not sure if a the new Intel chip would drive down the prices of the AMD. Besides that, anything else (e.g. GPUs)? I'll wait a week or two or three if there are major changes in price.

2) Is the Nvidia 3D Vision worth it? It very much tickles my fancy, but my two cons are (A) price - since I'm trying to keep it close $1000 I would have to compromise on the rest of the parts, and (B) ATI XFire seems to be better on the buck (specifically looking at the 4850 X2).

Thanks in advance!

the ATI 5xxx series is coming out September 8(?) and those are rumored to be very powerful.

Oh nice. I did some research, I think it's Sept 10th?

I wonder if I should get a 5xxx for DX11 or take advantage of the price drop for 4xxx.
