Hey guys, i have an issue with my ram atm, bit of a weird one.

Just to make it clear i have reseated my ram a number of times tried it in different slots etc.

Ok so basically i have a Core i7 950 Overclocked to 4.05ghz ram is overclocked to 1754mhz at 1.65v, Asus Rampage 3 Formula mobo, and 12gb of GSkill 1600mhz ram. Windows 7 64bit, cpu is cooled by a xspc rasa rs240 kit. double rad.

So atm my bios at post and windows 7 only see 8.00gb. Before i updated my bios i was able to get 12gb of ram to come up but i dont wanna roll back the bios at this point.

For some reason, CPU-Z is showing that i have triple channel memory installed and it is also showing i have 12288mbytes installed.

But for some reason the memory DRAM frequency is only around 877.0mhz?... shouldnt this be up around 1600mhz?.

Readings are as follows.

CAS: 9.0
tRCD: 9 Clocks
TRp: 9 Clocks
Tras: 24 clocks
trfc: 88 clocks
CR: 2T

Piriform Speccy also gives me a reading of 12.oGB Triple Channel DDR3 @ 876mhz 9-9-9-24 Readings.

But it is giving me funny readings.

Memory slots
Total memory slots 6
Used memory slots 4
Free memory slots 2
Memory
Type DDR3
Size 12288 MBytes
Channels # Triple
DRAM Frequency 877.0 MHz
CAS# Latency (CL) 9 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) 9 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 9 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 24 clocks
Command Rate (CR) 2T

Notice how it says total memory slots as 6 which is corrent, but used memory slots as 4?.

I have all 6 slots taken up with 2gb sticks in each one.

This is doing my head in, wtfs going on. It cant be faulty ram right?.

Ok so is there anything i can try to change in the bios?.. maybe some voltages or some frequency's.

Would boosting my NB frequency help in any way?...

Its so anoying. Any help will be great.

Cheers.

Your RAM is DDR3 or Double Data Rate which means two data processes per cycle. 877 MHz. x 2 = 1754 MHz. effective RAM speed.

You can run Memtest86+ from a floppy, CD or flashdrive to see what it shows on the RAM. If the RAM quantity changed only from a BIOS upgrade then I'd contact Asus Tech Support to see if this is a BIOS issue.

absolutely spot on. If you are supposed to be running at 1600MHz then the 1.66 voltage should be correct. You stated that you've overclocked your memory to 1754 so you will mostly likely need to up the dram voltage, about 1.7v in order to see the other 2 sticks. You might also need to up the QPI/VTT a little and make sure your uncore clock ratio is set to 3508. Last but not least - if those together do not fix it you might need to loosen the timings some, try 9/10/9 and let the tras change on it's own.

did u go into bios and set timings manually and voltage as well whatever is specified to. i got the same kit and i got it overclocked to 2000mhz stable with x79 ud3 and i7 3820 stable at 4.75Ghz overclocked that memory from 1600 to 2000,also in cupid it only shows half the actual speed cause ur running dual channel so 800 is really x2=1600 or 1000x2 is really 2000mhz note my overclocked timings are 11-11-13-28 aT 1.605, DEFAULT VOLTAGE IS 1.5 I HAD TO STRESS THIS BECAUSE I WANTED TO PROVE GOOD OVERCLOCK WITH THIS KIT BUT IN 5 DAYS GOING TO GSKILL 2133 SO I CAN PUSH IT TO5.0GHZ AND HIGHER YEAY...
