When I read the title of your thread, I thought: Intel's SSD --> Velociraptor 300GB--> WD C Black 1TB according to the budget. But when I read the post I see you thought the same and you're clearly leaning towards the WDC Black 1TB. I guess all you need is a little push 
..GO FOR IT, It's a good and tried HD..If your mobo supports raid 0, you may want to buy 2 640GB or 500GB WD blacks and setting up a raid 0 to moderately enhance the read and/or write performance.

Seagate 1 TB 7200.12 is a two platter drive so it should be a little faster than the WD FALS.
And the firmware problem is supposed to be fixed.

! Should have analyzed "Tom's 2009 3.5” Desktop Hard Drive Charts Benchmarks" more specifically. It's seems to be a good option and price is better than WD Caviar Black, too.
