Never buy a computer without ALL the software and operating system included, on CD, DVD.
Never take a salespersons word that you "don't need" the backup software.

You need the XP installation disk.
You need to do a repair installation, the directions are posted at the top of this forum.
The repair restores the default operating system, it does not wipe your personal files or programs.

OR a computer shop will do it for you. The usual rate is $200. Might as well go for windows 7.

3. Never use free antivirus downloaded from the internet. Use a professional all in one antivirus.
4. Never install multiple mismatched security programs.
