Possible PSU problem?

i just purchased a corsair HX1000W modular power supply and before i installed it i wanted to make sure it turned on. i removed it from the box and plugged it into the wall and nothing happened no fan rotation noise nothing. is this normal or is it DOA? . . .

have u turn the switch "ON" ? (if it had)
