What properties should I look out for a thermal compund?
Brand?

in my honest opinion ic diamond is the best tc out there i tried it and my amd965 runs cooler than my board..1c cooler..but to you question how well its heat transfer rate is . Purified synthetic diamond has a thermal conductivity of 2,000-2,500 W/mK compared to 406-429 W/mK for pure silver.

don't worry, any thermal compound are good.
My suggestion: don't take the white one, gray is more reliable...

I use Arctic Silver 5, and it works great.

Read an article at an Overclocking website about two days ago. The article tested like 80 different thermal compounds. Generally Arctic Silver 5 was in the top 3 or so. And it's readily available from almost any online site (NewEgg, etc). Fairly inexpensive too.

Just ordered some myself. Been using some old Antec stuff I had purchased years ago.
