I have a Cooler Master eXtreme 500w and i think it is dead. I come back home, press the power button, and then; the neons are blinking, fan l.e.d is blinking and all fans spining slowly, the 3870 fan isnt even moving. AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS IT TURNS OFF.....if right away i rurn it on again it will turn off in about 2-3 seconds.........?? psu??

SO is it my PSU or a motherboard failiure? I just dont get how it happened because this PSU is 3 months old and a good brand.

Might not be the PSU at all.

Try this.

1. Unplug the PSU.
2. Discharge the capacitors by holding down the power button for 1 minute.
3. Remove the motherboard CMOS battery.
4. Clear your CMOS with a jumper (if you board supports this).
5. Keep the battery out for 24 hours.
6. Test that battery in a watch or small light if you can just to if it isn't dead.
7. After the 24 hours, take off the CMOS jumper, replace the battery, plug in the PSU and boot up.

If the same problem exists and you can't tell if the battery is dead or not, get another battery. Take that one with you to compare to to he those as the store.
If this and a new CMOS battery do not fix it, then we can move on the PSU.
