Hi, I have the following question:

I have 2 PCs in LAN, sharing Internet with WinXP Pro, connected by 2 Ethernet cards and (I think... :$) a crossover cable. I want to know what differences a LAN from Internet, I mean, like protocols, incoming and out coming ports and whichIP ranges use each of them...

I need this to make a filter to limitate the velocity of the Internet connection only, leaving the velocity of the LAN as higher as possible...

Thank you very much... I'll be waiting your answers

Sorry for my English... I'm working on that :$:$:$

A LAN and the Internet in they way of protocols is pretty much the same. TCP/IP = Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, which is used for both LAN and Internet. Download a freeware firewall like ZoneAlarms and you can set ports and access from there. You can work up from there to many more complex firewalls.
