Wireless setup questions

Hello,
I just got the router setup completed But Ithough wireless meant cordless. How do I get the laptop free of the cords so I can use it in another room

Has the laptop got a wireless network adapter built in? Most recent ones do.
See the laptop's manual.

If no wireless you can buy a USB wireless adapter which is cheap and simple to install.
