Hello,

Currently I have 8 gigs of ddr3 ram (4 slots of 2 gigs) and i noticed that i am only using 6.78 physical ram and it reads that i have 8 gigs. I was confused as to why this was so and then i thought it may have something to do with the way tri channel ram works. I believe it works in 3 channels so that would make it best used in groups of 3. ie if i had 12 gigs of ram instead of 8 would it allow for maximum output of the ram. my mother board is the ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX and my ram is called GSKILL. I 'm sure other people are having the same problem as me but i'm having trouble finding anyone that has already talked about it on the net. If anyone can answer my question that would be great thanks.

It has nothing to do with the type of memory. Do you see that amount of RAM in the BIOS? If you see it in Windows Task Manager, Performance tab, please post a picture here.
