At 1280x1024 (or 1440x900 if you like widescreen) a 9600GT is a very capable card, but a GTS 250 won't be a huge overkill either, especially in the years to come.
Though I advise waiting for the new 5xxx series from ATI, a 5670 or 5750 would be great for you, consume less power, cost the same and have DirectX11 support.

Which card should I buy? I will play at 1280x1024 too
XFX HD 4850 , gigabyte HD 4850 ( without zalman ) or gainward GTS 250 GREEN?

They will all perform very similar, get the cheapest.

The difference is very small, so if one of them costs $30 more than the other you'll know what to do...

Why not get a higher resolution monitor? Seems like a gts 250 would be overkill on such a small monitor/low res. I play on a 23" HP at 1920 x 1080 and anything less seems sub-par. Of course all the other res's look worse cause they aren't the native res.

dont have a budget :D  so it wont be bad to have that graphic on small resoultion?

anyway i think gts 250 will be good choose for small resoultions ( it performs like hd4850 ) , u dont need a new monitor

Yeah, at least now you can play any game out there on the highest settings with your GTS 250 and probably all fo next year's games as well.

thts the case wid 4850 also right coz currently ATI pricing is way too low than 512 GTS

Also wat u guyz think of 4770 ?? does 250 n 4850 beat it ??
September 22, 2009 6:57:29 PM

yes 250gts and hd4850 beat it but 4770 has a 40nm process and OC

I ordered XFX 4850 - its almost same as 250gts
September 22, 2009 7:01:21 PM

bt if u hv a choice between 4770 n 4850 wat will b the best ??

The 4850 performs a better than the 4770, though the difference is small.

If you get a GTS 250 then make sure it is an XFX, EVGA or BFG

If you get a 4850 then make sure it is an XFX or VisionTek
