hi,

While replacing the hard disk on my friend's laptop the
other day, I noticed that his Fujitsu drive states its
current consumption as 0.5A while my IBM/Hitachi is 1.0A.
I recently upgraded to a 5400rpm Seagate Momentus which
takes 1.2A, and i sure seem to have lost some battery life!

My question is, do Hitachi drives really take up 1A, or is
that possibly just on spinup?

I'm looking to lengthen my battery life and if it means
swapping to a fujitsu drive I just might do that. I
don't really notice that much difference between 5400rpm
and 4200rpm... then again i have a bad memory. :)

Is there a comparison out there between Fujitsu and Hitachi
drives? I'm really only interested in a 20 or 30GB drive.

are fujitsu drives silent?

thanks!
