Usb SSD boot drive for laptop

First off is it even possible for a laptop to boot from usb HDD?

Second would be the mounting problems

I came across the zalman s series(usb2.0 and sata) and was wondering if it would be possible to boot from it and keep my internal HDD for storage?

I use my laptop for couch browsing so I could just use double sided tape to mount

Check your bios and see if it supports booting from usb.

Why even spend money on an SSD if all you will use it for is "couch browsing"? Waste of money if you ask me.

Got an oppourtunity to get a 64gb ssd for $50 so I wanted to find something to put it in.

I have a htpc setup but dont think it would be as useful.

My couch browsing laptop is running an older processor(turion x2) and I feel it will help things feel snappier.

My laptop does support usb boot but any concerns about the usb cable coming out or mounting issues.

You could put the drive in a rack and run it from there.
