HD tv as primary screen

I've got a computer setup in my living room hooked up to the tv so i can use it to stream stuff to the tv or play movies and what not. For the most part it works but if the computer ever reboots, windows seems to not want to use the tv as a monitor, so instead of loading up with the tv selected as the active display device i get a blank screen untill i reenable the tv in the display properties. this is a problem because i dont have another monitor hooked up to it for space reasons. so every time i reboot the pc i have to drag a monitor out there and hook it up so i can enable the tv as the primary display at which point i unplug the montor and hope the computer doesnt have to reboot for a wile. is there any way to make windows default to a single screen setup with the tv being the only screen?

geforce 7600 with latest nvidia drivers/software
windows xp
tv is connected via a div - vga plug.
