Headphone problem

When I have my headset plugged in, and start up a game (call of duty 2) it starts making a static noise, constant. I close the game out, it quits.... I can also restart my computer and then open COD2 and it'll work fine...

It did this with 2 different headsets...

Anyone have any ideas?

Offhand this worked for me once with bad connectors. a USB adapter.

Don't know if it's your problem, but like i said it worked for me once.
