will getting a SATA III 1tb mechanical hard drive running at 7200rpm from Seagate make any improvement whatsoever in my computers performance over the same hardrive with only a SATA II connection.

Thanks :)

No, mechanical hard drives can't read/write fast enough to saturate a SATA II connection. Its a marketing gimmick. The only reason you'd need SATA III is if you had an SSD.
