I bought my PC 3 years age with a Core2 Duo 1.8 GHz processor and a 8400GS 512MB graphic card.
I want to upgrade my CPU to intel core2 quad q8200 2.33 GHz.
But I'm not sure if I do that, I can run most games in max graphics, because of my graphic card.
Can 8400GS 512MB run most games like crysis, farcry2, grid, GTAIV and ... in max graphics? or it can't do that even with a 2.33GHz quad CPU?

No, not a snowflakes chance in hell mate, sorry. The 8400GS will put a picture on your screen but that's about it, if you can bear to wait just a week or so longer the new ATi cards may be available in a store near you and even if you do not want one of those it may cause a price change amongst other cards.

8400GS was not intended for gaming. of course you still be able to play some games but if you want to play new games (especially GPU intensive one like Crysis) you better get new card. check the requirement needed for the games you want to play and decide which card is best for you. :)

there isn't a card on the market that can totally max out crysis over 1680x1080

The 5870x2 will(should) easily max Crysis, but the problem might be bottlenecking.

Well i run it decently on my 8600GT at 1024x768. Ok not the best res but i still have highest settings on and AA.

Reply to jf812

^ I'd imagine that would be 'High' DX9 settings - not 'highest' DX10 settings. No way would you run DX10 with AA on a 8600GT - even at 1024, ok, maybe 10-20fps but not playable!
And the OP has a 8400, much weaker than a 8600GT! Get a new gfx card, as everyone else recommends! (Also check your Power Supply because its likely you will need to upgrade that too to power the new graphics)
