Audio from Motherboard?

I'm looking to do my first build and wanted to know if I needed a seperate sound card for waht I'm looking to do or if the motherboard would do the trick.

This is the board I'm looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128425

I have no computer speakers. I want the PC to hookup to my AVR-receiver and use my stereo speakers. I'm looking to get 5.1 sound. Will this board do this? The receiver has HDMI, optical, and Coax digital inputs.

  1. Specs are here:
    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=3311&ProductName=GA-P55-USB3
Audio sub-system is four items down - on-board sound CODEC will work fine; you'll never hear the difference from adding a sound card...
